Doug Casey is a catastrophist from way back - but that doesn't mean he's wrong.

There are few thing less appealing than being in a country where the majority of its citizens are undergoing a drastic decline in their standard of living, especially one where "standard of living" has taken on religious overtones to the exclusion of other things like family, integrity, and the development of virtues.

The last I checked only 5% of Americans have passports. Many otherwise educated and accomplished Americans have never even left the country for a vacation let alone to examine their options.

This is lunacy.

If you're one of these folks, for goodness sake, if nothing else, at least take a trip to Canada and spend a week and see that life is perfectly enjoyable and manageable outside the US.
